George Steinbrenner isn't letting the Mets success get to him:
George Steinbrenner is well aware of the hot start the crosstown Mets are off to. The Yankees owner does not fear the Amazin's, though, saying his team will be prepared when the two squads face off next month.
"They're all right," Steinbrenner said of the Mets after yesterday's 9-3 Yankees victory over the Royals. "We'll be ready for them."
...
Then he said, "We'll be ready for them when we play them."
The Yankees and Mets play at Shea Stadium on May 19-21 and at Yankee Stadium June 30-July 2. The Mets are 7-1 this season, while the Yankees are 5-4.
...
"They're a good team," Steinbrenner said. "They're not going to lose 100 games."
Come talk to me about the Mets when they beat a team that at least has a shot at a .500 record this year.
