Hughes update
Phil Hughes started the first game of today's doubleheader for Trenton (to make up for yesterday's rain-out), and he's cruising through 5 innings:

5 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 5 K, 1 WP

His control has been better than his last start it seems. The lone run he's given up was with 2 outs (after back-to-back called strike 3's to start the inning), and resulted from a single, a wild pitch then another single - so they didn't exactly pound him.

In case you were wondering, the team he's facing (Portland) is middle-of-the-pack offensively, sporting a line of .239-.319-.349-.668.

Go gettem' Phil.

Update: Thaaaaaaa Thunder wins! Hughes gets a no decision, but goes 6, gives up 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER and 1 BB while K'ing 5. Hughes also gave up a solo HR, only the second HR he's given up as a pro. Not bad Phil, not bad at all.

Darn, it looks like he gave up a home run. Only his *second* in his professional career. Not bad, and I'm sure he'll settle down a bit more as he gets used to AA.
